SHIPPENSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT

CHIEF OF POLICE

CERTIFICATE OF ACCOMMODATION

PRESENTED TO

CORPORAL JEFFERY SHUBERT

Corporal Scott Wolfe and Corporal Jeffrey Shubert are hereby awarded this commendation for the 2006 investigation and apprehension of individuals involved in a crime spree in areas surrounding and within the borough of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

Corporal Shubert, while interviewing a suspect in an unrelated crime, was given information pertaining to an armed robbery, report of a stolen vehicle and several break-ins in the Shippensburg area.  The suspect, turned informant, identified the individuals involved in those crimes.  Additionally, those individuals were described as armed and “out of control” from crack cocaine and heroin usage.  Sensing the urgency of the situation, Corporal Shubert related this information to Chief Fred Scott and fellow shift supervisor Corporal Wolfe.

Corporals Shubert and Wolfe spearheaded the operation to apprehend these individuals.  Corporal Wolfe, working with informants from previous drug investigations, was able to identify other suspects connected with the crime spree and to find the general location of these individuals.   Working off of this lead, Corporal Shubert pinpointed their exact location, and instituted procedures to safe-guard the residents in the areas surrounding the suspects’ apartment.  In acquiring blueprints of the apartment, the corporals provided valuable information to the S.W.A.T Team called in to apprehend the suspects.

The thorough and detailed work performed by these two officers resulted in the apprehension and arrest of seven individuals charged with the commission of armed robbery, auto theft, possession of illegal weapons and drugs, use of a stolen credit card, possession of stolen property, and terrorist threats.  Additionally, law enforcement officers believed these individuals played a large part in the distribution and use of illegal drugs in the local area.
